How to use this fence calculator
Calculate fence panels, posts, gates, concrete, fasteners, labor, and project cost.
Formula
Panel run = total length − gate width. Panels = panel run ÷ panel width, rounded up. Posts account for panel ends, corners/continuity, and two gate posts per gate.Worked example
Example: A 150 ft fence with one 4 ft gate leaves 146 ft for panels. At 8 ft per panel, 19 panels are required before the extra allowance.
Accuracy and limitations
Corners, slopes, terminal posts, post depth, frost requirements, demolition, permit rules, and utility conflicts can change the design and cost.
